Scott received his undergraduate degree from the University of Utah with a B.S. in Psychology and Minor in Business in 1999. He then moved back to his hometown, Las Vegas, to study Law at the University of Nevada Las Vegas. In 2002, he received his Juris Doctorate from the William S. Boyd School of Law.
After a few years of working in a variety of forms of law, Scott settled into an established law firm focusing in Securities and Corporate Law. Scott eventually became a partner in the firm, establishing himself as an experienced and respected lawyer in the fields he now practices in. In 2014, Scott decided to form his own practice, and continue his growth as a veteran lawyer. Basing his practice in Las Vegas comes with the benefit of attractive Nevada laws, and has proven key in his ability to attract clients from all over the world. Today, The Doney Law firm represents clients in Asia, Canada and Europe that have found home in Nevada.
The overall goal of The Doney Law Firm is to provide big firm experience on a personal level. Often times big law firms will pass clients around from lawyer to lawyer, and consequently efficiency is lost. Scott is a solo practitioner and employs a small staff to aid him, but the clients know that he is the one behind all of their work and is always available for consultation. The Doney Law Firm provides representation regarding public and private securities offerings, counseling and assistance regarding going public transactions, and the filing of public company periodic reports on the EDGAR system. These are just a few examples; please see the “Practices Areas” tab for a more complete description. Scott understands the difficulties in running public companies (especially "small business entities") and is committed to providing the support and guidance regarding compliance and regulatory issues, thus allowing corporate principals to focus on the operational success of their business.
